on the core principles of RTKLs vision for the A1 and D1 sites.Our project creates a symbolic extension of the Xiangjiang River through the dynamic interplay of build-ing forms and landscape.The design solutions connect the entire developmen7、t to the river and act as the vi-sual gateway into the entire development.The site becomes the primary focal point for the waterfront skyline of the Xiangjiang River.The overall landscape concept connects our site to surrounding sites,and creates a sustainable and green environment as the next phase8、 of a world-class development.Our design solutions look to create a beacon for future development on the Xiangjiang River which embraces a new sustainable view of development on the river.Our design concepts create man-made elements ex-pression of the towers.This scheme engages the major new central urban space,growing up and out from the internal space t15、o create urban edge and substantial dynamic faade at the north side.The scheme looks to make reference to the existing cultural buildings through the use of warped and angular forms.A layering of levels and forms make the scheme resemble the layers of soil deposited on the rivers edge,an organic for16、mation of angular forms.All building forms come together in an ensemble ar-rangement to define a flowing angular edge to the urban context.TowersThe unique feature of this scheme is the patterned expression of the tower skin.Here,the office tower rises,visually stratified and faceted,through the use17、 of a transparent glass faade to echo the schemes concept.The building expresses this visual layer-ing and movement through a stepping condition at the“ends”which give an actual movement to these facades.Civic PlazaThe central portion of this parcel opens into a grand public space that interacts wit18、h its surrounding context.Various paths lead the visitor to other urban spaces while providing for vehicular arrival to office and retail.The landscaped plaza,active with retail storefronts,also provides a pedestrian walkway connection to an elevated riverside promenade.Retail CoreLayers of built fo19、rm,as if deposited by the river over years,provide the retail base for this scheme.The different layers provide for more open sight line into the project and create numerous opportunities for retail which engages the surrounding context.An internal street provides the main focal space for the buildi20、ng.These dynamic tiers create a visual harmony with the adjacent major civic buildings and provide numerous opportunities for lushly planted green roofs.LandscapeTrue to the overarching idea of layers and gradual build-up that is unique to this option,the landscape also transforms itself and rises f21、rom urban,refined pavement surfaces to green terraces that offer the West side of the development a soft and natural com-ponent and is at once a contrasting vista to the angular building geometry and a pedestrian vehicle to the rivers edge.Architectural Expression The architectural language of this 22、proposal strives to articulate the metaphor of layers(strata)as forms given by the actions of the nearby river.This layering glass forms and more solid masonry wall elements that define the projects core.More solid forms that are curved and canted provide glimpses to the internal uses,and define spaces of leisure and pavement areas,decidedly urban in their slick and refined patterns,and alternating with rigorously controlled green spaces.Architectural ExpressionThe architectural langua69、ge of this proposal strives to articulate the metaphor of a crystal formation,faceted,slanted and glowing with light and transparency,carved to address spaces of leisure and entertainment.From within,the hotel rises in
