The Master Plan envisioned eight different dist5、ricts surrounding the lake and provided programmatic recommendations of appropriate land uses, recreational uses and general urban design direction. The neighborhood character for the neighborhoods was further defi ned in subsequent studies. The northern half of this dist8、rict has been constructed or is currently under construction. The design for the southern part of this district is being refi ned as part of this study. The Marina Village was assumed to be a predominantly residential structures around a series of interconnected canals refl ecting the existing urban9、 fabric of Suzhou with higher density residential towers fl anking the neighborhoods entrance boulevard. A marina, swimming lagoon and a large playground were planned for this neighborhood. These districts will include seven distinct neighborhoods12、: Promenade Neighborhood, Wind Garden Neighborhood, Grand Canal Neighborhood, Tower Neighborhood, Canal Neighborhood, Lakefront Neighborhood, all of which surround the centrally located Marina Village Neighborhood. The residential neighborhoods will be designed to refl ect an intimate residential sc13、ale and be pedestrian-oriented. The Marina Village neighborhood is envisioned to be the vibrant mixed use village center that provides a place for community events and gatherings and is anchored by a marina. Major and minor gateways are identifi ed at entries to the site.The land immediately adjacen14、t to the waterfront is designed to include community uses, public open spaces and continuous pedestrian pathway. Three distinct types of open spaces are provided along the waterfront the wind garden, the nature park and the fi shing pier. Future residential developments in this neighborhood will 22、accommodate pedestrian and visual connections to the promenade and the waterfront. To the east of this neighborhood is the “cultural/community district”, a use that is at the southern terminus of the grand promenade. These open spaces will include community amenities such as day care centers, community rooms, fi tness and 25、recreation centers. Building heights will range from 4 to 12 stories (or taller). The buildings will be designed around common green space that will become the commun29、ity open spaces and will include community amenities. This district is bounded by a canal and a 30 meter wide green belt on its west and south sides. The widths of the canals at six meters and eight meters are refl ective of the existing canal sections in the old town. Along the central axi31、s is a wider “free-form” canal that connects the neighborhood to the lake. Around this central canal will be located the community amenities such as the day care center, library, and recreation and fi tness centers. It 34、is envisioned to include single family residences with pedestrian connections to both the Nature Park and the waterfront to the east and to the Marina Village Center to its north. The southern part of the Marina Village coul36、d include mixed use buildings residential units above street level storefronts. The core of the Village includes mixed use residential buildings which then lead to a series of small scale retail buildings that are restaurants, stores and boutiques. These buildings are clustered around plazas and ope37、n spaces, all of which take advantage of the proximity and views of the water. The northern end of the Marina Village will be anchored by a “signature” building that will be used as a community facility. The two large parcels on the western40、 end (closest to the Grand Canal Neighborhood) are intended to be designed as 4 story residential buildings (with potential retail along the street). To the east of this area, there will be a series of one and two story retail buildings located around landscaped and hardscaped plazas lending the fee41、l of a “village center” with restaurants, cafes and boutique stores. This area is intended to become the heart of the District.The southern part of the Marina Village Neighborhood, across the Grand Canal Marina, will include residential buildings with potentially some mixed use buildings with street42、-facing retail uses adjacent to the pedestrian bridge that connects across the Grand Canal Marina. This neighborhood terminates at an intimately scaled marina with slips for boats at the eastern end.Located at the eastern end of the Village Center is the historic pier. The existing structures on the43、 pier will be removed and the pier will be reused as a fi shing pier. Several viewing decks will be added to the pier. Two markers will also be added to the pier one at the terminus and another on axis with the canal and marina. The form of the park is derived from the actions of wind on water, and is an abstraction of the ripples and waves that result from this action. Planting is envisaged as being a blend of ornamental species 47、and those which capture the wind, transpose it, and translate it in sound, action, and scent. Structural elements will include look-out or viewing platforms, water pools and a possible small interactive childrens playground.風之園“風之園”的設計意圖是感受風的存在,并提供一個成人與孩童可以共同嬉戲的場所。“風之園”的平面源自于風拂過水面的情景,也是水波紋的抽象形式。植物的設48、計是多種開花植物的混合,用它們來捕捉無形的風,用聲音,香味以及搖曳的姿態來傳達風的訊息。公園中的構筑元素有觀景平臺,水池和一個小的、可隨時更新的兒童游樂區。DISTRICTS 2A AND 3 D E V E L O P M E N T G U I D E L I N E S23金雞湖第2A及3區城市設計原則W I N D G A R D E N風之園Site FurnitureSite MaterialsSite SectionThe current arc of the Waterfront Promenade will be continued through light masts p49、laced in the Lake, and a more serpentine shoreline confi guration that follows the existing condition. A walkway of variable width is envisioned against the Lake edge, and interwoven paths that rise and fall in grade will link the Garden with the Wind Garden Neighborhood to the west.At the northern 50、end of the Garden, a stair will descend to a fl oating pontoon where cruise boats can dock. This will be fronted by a paved forecourt allowing outdoor dining, performances by musicians and other cultural and social events.現有濱湖步行大道的曲線形式將以置于湖中的燈柱來延續。而湖岸本身將遵循現有的湖岸曲線而呈現蜿蜒的形式。一條寬度變化的步行小路倚著湖岸布置,而交織在曲線之間的小51、路則隨地形上下起伏,把風之園與西面的風苑小區聯結起來。在風之園的北端,由一部臺階轉至一處供游船停靠的浮動碼頭,這個碼頭面對一個鋪裝平臺,供室外就餐、音樂表演或其它文娛活動使用。DISTRICTS 2A AND 3 D E V E L O P M E N T G U I D E L I N E S24金雞湖第2A及3區城市設計原則WIND GARDEN風之園Pre l i m i n a r y Plant List主要植物列表喬木灌木草本植被MARINA VILLAGE OPEN SPACEThe Open Spaces interwoven through the Marina Villag52、e are envisioned as an intricate urban environment where the smaller scale building forms of the district are refl ected in an intimate The form of these open spaces is deliberately simple, and is confi gured as a simple ground plain that forms a base to the adjacent commercial and cultural faciliti53、es. Level changes are introduced to allow varied interactions with the Lake and the boats that will likely dock at the Marina Village.The shoreline is envisioned as being largely a structured wall, with signifi cant areas of hard paving as a means of proving for multiple users and service access alo54、ng the water front. Planting and materials palettes will be simple, allowing the spaces to be enlivened by the adjacent activities.FISHING PIER (LEVEE)The Fishing Pier occupies the existing levee, and is envisioned as an elongated natural regeneration zone. The alignment of the levee is considered a55、 signifi cant historic feature of Jinji Lake, while the existing structures are not. The proposal calls for the demolition of the existing structures, together with a structural evaluation and repair of the existing seawalls to establish a land level close to the lake. Paths shall be a well detailed56、 yet simple timber deck, with the remainder of the levee area re-vegetated with naturally occurring grasses and other species that promote wildlife, and in particular, the nesting of water bird species.At a mid-point along the Fishing Pier, at the crossing of the diagonal axis of the Canal Neighborh57、ood, a taller light pagoda is envisaged to terminate that vista and provide a destination to those walking along the length of the fi shing pier. The shoreline will be an extension into the lake beyond the existing limit of the lake edge, and will be a constructed wetland to develop a more passive and natural61、 edge with the lake that may also provide habitat potential for water birds. Small fi shing and boat docking piers are proposed at the end of streets within the Lakefront neighborhood as a means of extending the streets into the lake and establishing interaction with the lake.The planting and materi62、als palettes are simple, and are seen as a refl ection of the landscape that surround Lake Jinji.
