8、and Europe. While spirits have often been touted as recession-resistant,that doesnt mean theyre recession-proof.Last year,we predicted that the war in Ukraine would have a catastrophic effect on the lists Russian and Ukrainian vodka, but thats proven to only be half true.Russian brands have fared well

12、 The last few editions of our Millionaires Club have arrived with a large asterisk, but with this years reopening of China, the associated boost for global travel retail, and the World Health Organisation announcing that the Covid-19 virus is no longer a global health emergency, this is likely to be the
13、 last impacted by the pandemic.Thats not to say that, from a volume perspective, the lockdowns had an entirely negative impact. The closures of many on-trade channels led to a homegrown acceleration of the premiumisation trend and a lockdown boom that, for many brands, has now faded.Diageo, which again is
14、 the most represented brand owner across the list, topped the FTSE 100 fallers list, causing investment bank Jefferies to downgrade the companys stock from buy to hold. While the broker admitted the company was a stronger business now than pre-pandemic,it pointed to early signs of downtrading in catego
